Literacy Development – these games develop early literacy skills, introducing letter-sound relationships, letter and sound identification, sounds in words, rhyming skills and early text identification, all of which are critical in the development of early literacy skills. Some of the following games help children develop an awareness of words in sentences, teach the alphabet sequence, especially using the child’s visual skills as a strength, and help the child ‘tune in’ to sounds. They are also useful in introducing the ‘vocabulary’ of literacy.
