Heather Cullen

Senior Speech Pathologist
B.App.Sc (Speech Pathology) CPSP, MSPA

Heather brings years of experience and wisdom to the team at Spectrum. She has extensive experience in the area of complex communication needs, having worked in a variety of settings and across the age range from young children in early intervention to adolescents and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities and autism.

Heather is committed to the continuing development of her professional knowledge and therapy skills. She regularly attends workshops, seminars and special interest groups. Her training includes AAC, Hanen programs, PROMPT therapy, Sounds-Write Program and the Lidcombe program for stuttering. Heather is both a Presenter and State Trainer for Key Word Sign Australia (formerly known as Makaton) and she contributes to working groups within this organisation.

Heather has been working with Spectrum Speech Pathology for over 15 years. For some of this time she also worked at Western Autistic School. As an experienced therapist Heather enjoys sharing her knowledge and providing mentoring support to some of our early career therapists.

During Melbourne’s lockdowns, Heather was surprised to find she has an affinity for online therapy and so continues to offer this as an ongoing option to her clients, many of whom appreciate the reduced travel time whilst still achieving focused therapy goals. Heather particularly enjoys making and personalising therapy materials to meet the needs and special interests of her clients.

Heather loves working with children and families, and as a mother of two, she understands the joys and challenges of family life. We are lucky indeed to have someone like Heather on our team.
