The Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Willems are some of our all time favourites. We love using these in therapy and recommending them to parents to read with their kids.

The kids adore these books – they are very funny!! Gerald (Elephant) and Piggie have everyday adventures together – there is always a problem to be solved, and always in such a clever and intriguing way. These books generate lots of discussion and opportunity for ‘wondering’, problem solving, prediction, and exploring emotions. The illustrations are clear and uncluttered but so engaging and depict the feelings and thoughts of Gerald and Piggie so beautifully, and best of all, there’s not too much language and it’s not too complicated.

There are several in the series and they explore friendships, feeling sad, angry, jealous, upset, sharing, amongst other feelings in such a fun way, the kids just love them. We use them with kids right throughout primary school. Local libraries often have them – do have a look and share them with your kids and enjoy!
