Sarah Ward

M.S., CCC/SLP, Co-Director at Cognitive Connections

Sarah has over 24 years of experience in diagnostic evaluations and treatment of executive dysfunction.  Ms.Ward holds a faculty appointment at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions where she provides instruction to graduate level students in the assessment and treatment of individuals with traumatic brain injury and other cognitive communication disorders.

Sarah is an internationally recognised expert on executive function and presents seminars and workshops on the programs and strategies she has developed with her Co-Director Kristen Jacobsen.  Their 360 Thinking Executive Function Program received the Innovative Promising Practices Award from the National Organisation CHADD.She has presented to and consulted with over 585 public and private schools in Massachusetts and across the United States.

Other awards received include: Bette Ann Harris Award (2017), MGH Expertise in Clinical Practice Award, the Distinguished Alumni Award (2005) and the Faculty in Excellence Award from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions (2002, 2011) and ACE award from ASHA 2013 and 2016.

Cutting Edge Strategies for Improving Executive Function at School and Home

In this practical strategies seminar develop a solid understanding of what the executive function skills are and how they impact a teens  academic and personal performance.

Participants will learn dozens of easy to implement strategies to improve motivation and task initiation. Teach students to internally sense the sweep of time and to self monitor to sustain concentration, manage pace and complete tasks in allocated time frames.  Help students to avoid distractions!  Get it Done! Minimise procrastination and show students the process of how to plan tasks, homework and long term projects/papers that must be completed over days and or weeks.  No more mess! Coach students to think in an organised way and encourage  self-initiative to manage homework and personal belongings.
